New in 2019 - students must:
1) apply to one of the qualifying college programs. Programs are largely technical and medical related at Iowa's 15 community colleges and 2 hospitals (St. Luke's College in Sioux City and Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines)
2) submit a FAFSA online
Then the college will notify you if you qualify. This program is "designed to work with other state and federal programs to completely cover the cost of tuition toward a certificate, diploma, or associate degree in a high-need field. Recipients are also eligible for mentoring support to ensure their college success". The scholarship can last up to 5 full-time semesters, or 8 part-time semesters and is open to new HS graduates enrolled in college program in fall, or adults 20 and older starting a program at least part-time.

4-H, Over 40 4-H scholarships for HS Seniors with February 1 deadline, many allow for renewing during college and 1 allows HS Juniors to apply (noted bullet), see all descriptions at  
    • For current High School Juniors- Hills Bank Leadership Grant applicants will also need 2 letters of recommendationfrom either a community member, employer, or volunteer and from a school teacher or academic advisor.  
ACT $500 Champions Scholarship (non-renewable scholarship, certificate, plaque, and state-level recognition, following criteria to apply: 
    • A student who has overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions
    • Students must have a composite ACT score of a 22 on a single test date or a 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale
    • Preference will be given to underrepresented and/or first-generation college students.

Cosmetology Scholarship (Quarterly) $2,500

Scholarship Description: Available to high school seniors who plan to pursue post-secondary education in any of the beauty disciplines, including but not limited to cosmetology, barbering, esthetics and skin care, nail technology or massage therapy. Eligible to use at any of these beauty schools in Iowa.

  • Iowa Golf Association - Completed applications (Griffel & Sani) must be received by Friday, March 17, 2017.
The IGAF awards $2,000 Ann Griffel Scholarships to Iowa high school senior girls who have a passion for golf and intend to further their education at an Iowa institution of higher learning, whether a college, university or trade school. 
Any graduating hs senior and resident of State of Iowa with experience or background in golf is eligible to apply. Each recipient receives $8,000 ($2,000 per year) over a consecutive 4-year period as long as the student is making reasonable academic progress.

Iowa CelebrAsian Scholar; (new May 8, 2017)

Those interested in running for the CelebrAsian Scholar must do the following;

1.     Submit an application, resume and a one-page essay

2.     Submit a Bio & headshot photo that will be posted on Iowa Asian Alliance social media for the community to see finalists.  

3.     Must wear Asian heritage attire for the CelebrAsian Fashion Show on Saturday, May 27th.

Also - Must: Currently enrolled in High School or a college/university between the years of a Senior credit High School student and a Junior credit college/university student. Be of Asian heritage by at least one parent, At least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale., Completed at least 10 hours of community service within the past 2016-2017 school year.  Incorporate the 2017 CelebrAsian Theme “15 Years Strong"

To help ensure the continued success and development of future energy efficiency professionals in Iowa, and in keeping with IAEE’s mission “To promote the Art and Science of Energy Efficiency,” a student scholarship has been created to assist students in pursuing an education related to energy efficiency.

IAEE will award up to 2 - $1,000 scholarships to individuals.*

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

Have a High School diploma or GED at the time of application
Be a student pursuing a degree which supports the mission of IAEE
