K-12 Tag Teacher

My name is Carla Church and this is my 10th year teaching in this district.  I taught 6th grade in Fairfield, Iowa and 5th grade in Diagonal, Iowa.  I was also a substitute teacher in Wisconsin and other Iowa school districts.  My husband has retired from the Army and we have enjoyed making Panora our new home.  Before moving to Panora, Iowa we lived in Maryland, Ohio, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and other cities in Iowa. We have three children and they all graduated high school in a different state.  Abigail graduated from Panorama in 2016.  She is currently working as a night auditor at Adventureland Inn in Altoona.  Our eldest, Abraham, graduated high school in Wisconsin, studied engineering in Ohio and is now working for Cummins as a Sr. Controls Software Engineer in Indiana.  Our middle child is Anna, she graduated from high school in Maryland, went to college in Ohio and currently works at Creston Hospital as the Night Nursing Supervisor.  She is married to Caleb Humburg and they are expecting their first child in late March of 2024. 

 

I grew up in Johnston, Iowa.  I received my BA in International Management and French from Simpson College and my MAE in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa.  I have been enjoying getting involved with the kids at Panorama Community Schools and helping them to nurture their innate abilities and strengths.  In addition, I am working on motivating kids to think outside of the box to solve real world problems, become critical thinkers, and work on their soft skills.
