I am the K-12 Teacher Librarian for the Panorama District. I started my career at Panorama in 1997.  I have a degree in Sociology from Iowa State University, an Elementary Ed. degree from the University of Northern Iowa, and a Masters degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Iowa.  I am also a wife, mother, and grandmother to 3 amazing granddaughters! I enjoy spending time with family and friends, biking, cycling, baking, crafting, gardening and of course reading good books.

I have developed a comprehensive K-12 Library program that is ever-changing to align with the American Association of School Libraries (AASL) Standards Framework, the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) and Common Core Standards (CCS).  I have scheduled classes with the K- 6th grade students and collaborate with K-12 teachers when I can.
My curriculum includes:
  • Technology skills - which includes keyboarding and mousing skills, trouble-shooting,  website navigation and how to use Google Apps and other web-based programs.
  • Information Literacy skills - which includes research skills, and digital citizenship.
  • Makerspace time - where students have hands-on opportunities with tinkering, making, and the design process.
Within these areas I encourage a love of reading, using the imagination, and independent problem-solving.

One of my greatest joys in teaching is seeing the students excited about learning and watching their faces light up when they make additional connections that build on their own knowledge.
